Carnival of the Animals - Book Review and Engaging activities
In this video, I review a music related book - letting you know the basic content and intended audience. I also provide ideas for how to use this book to incorporate music into your daily life at home.
The Carnival of the Animals by Jack Perlutsky
Books like this are just a wonderful way to have music lessons at home. The illustrations are designed to catch and keep children’s attention while they listen and attend to classical music. This book adds a level of fun by incorporating novel poetry for each animal and song. The accompanying CD is nice in that addition to playing the music, the poems are narrated by the author. This means a child could read the book and listen to the music and look at the pictures by themselves which can be a nice break for Mom or Dad’s reading voice. The music selection, Carnival of the Animals is a GREAT choice for family fun. The songs are really engaging and interesting. It can be really fun to play a guessing game by playing a snippet of one of the songs and trying to guess the animal!
The book says it is intended for preschoolers, but I would recommend this for preschool and elementary school as well. The music is, of course, great for all ages.
