Richard Rogers (1895 - 1960) and Oscar Hammerstein (1902 - 1979 were an American musical theater team. Rodgers composed the music and Hammerstein was the lyricist. Together they wrote over 40 musicals won 42 Tony's, 15 Academy Awards, 2 Pulitzer Prizes, 2 Grammy Awards, and 2 Emmy Awards. They are well known for some of the most popular musicals of all time, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, Carousel, The King and I, and Cinderella.
